I tried 1280×800 pics and they are shown as the left size has been cut out from the screen, I also tried smaller inmages and they are displayed even smaller on homepage
really can’t figure out how it works

The issue is resolving by itself, if you test your page in google Structured Data Testing Tool (https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool), you will not see any error.
